Building Blocks

Building Blocks is an art gallery dedicated to children and the boundless potential of the art they create. Building Blocks was initally created to be a microsite type specimen for the display typeface “Building Blocks” that I designed from the ground up. However, it very quickly evolved into something much bigger than that. Children’s minds aren’t fully developed and thus, create art in a much different way than a fully developed adult. There is a beautiful uniqueness to children's art that deserves to be showcased, and thus, the idea for Building Blocks was born. Additionally, unfortunately in many public schools, art courses tend to be one of the first things to be cut from school programs budgets. Because of this, Building Blocks aims to highlight the beauty and importance of the work children produce in these Art courses. Not only that, Building Blocks also takes all of its proceeds and donations and puts them towards funding and supporting, these art courses, so that children can continue to express themselves and grow through art. Though Building Blocks was purely conceptual, it is a project I am passionate about, see great potential in. I too believe that if not for my early education art courses I may have never fostered my love for art and design, and thus, I want to protect that opportunity for future generations.
